you wouldn’t believe the everyday items sottsass has designed - a long-standing relationship with alessi saw him design a parmesan dispenser, butter dish, beautiful cutlery - anyway, it’s the memphis group he founded - that carlton bookcase turned everything on it’s head - you’d recognise his tahiti lamp instantly - and for me, the very special ultrafragola mirror he designed in 1970 for poltronova - you can still get them although the white plastic does tend to yellow after so many years, but once it illuminates when you switch it on, the pinky glow, it’s something else, i dream of having one in my apartment - one just came up at munich’s quittenbaum design auction 23 june - lot no. 084333 - estimate 4500 euros
