Please do feed the animals – Gilbert & George
Gilbert & George, yesterday night at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, signing their last book, and showing their last works, based on headlines from the Evening Standard. Art from the streets still can be great.
Dimanche
“A Tomes, sur la mer Noire, dans la nuit du seize janvier après Jésus-Christ, une nuit de gel et de bourrasque, Publius Ovidius Naso, poète et courtisan, rêva qu’il était devenu un poète aimé de l’empereur. Et, en tant que tel, par miracle des dieux, il s’était transformé en un grand papillon.” – Antonio Tabucchi ♰ 25/03/2012
New Triangle
” Hipsters are also often considered to have their own beliefs and ways of living. The triangle has a New Age symbolism that perfectly describes their way of life. They want to be apart from the norm that is why they tend to do things their own way, listen to non-mainstream bands and appreciate popular art.
They are often associated with the figure of a triangle as evident in the pictures that they take and the writings on their blogs. You can call it an obsession but basically it is a symbolism of what they are. When you research about hipsters and their fondness for triangles, you will be bombarded by lots of reasons from the mundane to the philosophical.”
- Barnett Newman, “Jericho”, 1968-69.
